Online Stopwatch

Free online stopwatch with big fullscreen digits, laps, and split times. Keeps running if you close the tab — perfect as a stopwatch for study sessions. Press Space to start or stop, L to record a lap, and R to reset. Each lap shows its own time and the running total, with the fastest and slowest laps highlighted. The time also shows in the browser tab, so you can track it from another window.

What you can use it for

  • Time study sessions without your phone
  • Track laps and splits for runs, drills, and workouts
  • Time talks, presentations, and speedruns on a big screen
  • Keep a visible timer running on a second monitor

How to use the online stopwatch

  • Press Space or Start to begin, Space again to stop, and R to reset.
  • Press L or Lap while it's running to record a lap. Each lap shows its own time and the running total; the fastest lap turns green and the slowest red.
  • Press Fullscreen for giant digits you can read across a room, and pick colors or a gradient background in Customize.
  • Close the tab or restart the browser — the stopwatch keeps counting from the moment you started, and the time also shows in the browser tab.

A stopwatch for study sessions

Timing study blocks with a browser stopwatch instead of your phone keeps notifications away. Start it when you sit down, press Lap at every break, and at the end you'll see exactly how long each block lasted.

Want fixed work-and-break cycles? The Pomodoro timer switches for you. Counting down to a deadline? Use the digital timer.

Other ways people use it

  • Workouts and runs: laps for intervals, sets, and rest periods.
  • Speeches, presentations, and debates: a big visible timer on a second screen or projector.
  • Speedruns, cubing, and games: hundredths of a second, lap splits, and keyboard control.
  • Cooking and lab work: a running time that stays visible while your hands are busy.

How accurate is it?

Elapsed time is calculated from your device clock rather than by counting ticks, so it doesn't drift when the tab is in the background or the computer is busy. The display shows hundredths of a second; for officially timed sport, use certified timing equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Does it keep running if I close the tab?+

Yes. The start time is saved in your browser, so reopening the page shows the correct elapsed time and keeps counting.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?+

Space starts and stops, L records a lap, and R resets. They work in fullscreen too.

How accurate is it?+

It's based on your device clock and shows hundredths of a second. It's accurate for everyday timing, not for officially timed sports.
